Eddie Murphy has become the latest actor to join the cast of Brett Ratner's new comedy Tower Heist, according to Deadline New York.

Eddie Murphy joins a cast that includes Ben Stiller and Alan Alda. It wasn't said which character Eddie Murphy will portray, although he will likely be one of the employees that rally around Ben Stiller's character in a plot to rob the man who stole their pensions. Alan Alda will play the white-collar criminal who is under house arrest in his penthouse suite in the building the employees work for.

Jeff Nathanson is rewriting the latest version of the script by Ted Griffin. Eddie Murphy had previously been mentioned to star in the original version of the movie when it was entitled Trump Heist, which centered on an African-American cast pulling off a heist at Donald Trump's Trump Towers.

No production schedule has been given for Tower Heist.
