/gerard-butler-exits-point-break-remake/Last week, Gerard Butler dropped out of the Point Break remake citing scheduling issues and creative differences. Today, it has been announced that Deliver Us from Evil star Édgar Ramírez is taking his place as Bodhi, the surfing guru-turned-bank robber portrayed by Patrick Swayze in the 1991 original classic.

Alcon Entertainment co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew A. Kosove made the announcement today with the following statement:

"We consider Édgar one of the finest actors in the world today and we are thrilled he will be creating a fresh new take on the iconic character of Bodhi."

Directed by Ericson Core (Invincible), this new version of Point Break will follow Johnny Utah, an undercover FBI agent tasked with infiltrating a criminal ring hiding within the world of extreme sports.

Édgar Ramírez is best remembered for his role in Zero Dark Thirty. He recently wrapped Hands of Stone starring opposite Robert De Niro.
