Elizabeth Olsen portrays the fan-favorite character Wanda Maximoff (aka the Scarlet Witch) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, based on the Marvel Comics hero of the same name. After making a huge splash in 2021, with the huge success of the first Marvel Studios streaming series to hit Disney+, fans are eagerly awaiting the next chapter in Wanda's story. In the latest trailer to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda is seen confronting a nightmare version of herself in a New Jersey home similar to the one she created in WandaVision. Now, according to a rumor on Twitter, Olsen may have just extended her contract another seven years at Marvel Studios, with a solo film in the works (more magic, anyone?)

A Twitter user (@HarryBowlsFOX) tweeted out an exciting rumor, saying, "NEW: Sources have confirmed Elizabeth Olsen has signed a contract extension with Marvel Studios that extends for the next 7 years. Huge speculations that during this span, her long-awaited Scarlet Witch solo film is in the works."

The news is not officially confirmed, but the rumor has gone viral with the tweet getting over 72K likes and 12K retweets. While it's unclear if the rumor is true, fans of the Scarlet Witch and Lizzie are sure into the idea of having seven more years of the character grace their screens.

Elizabeth Olsen's Career

Olsen started her career in the Olsen twins' TV movie How the West Was Fun when she was just five years old. To this day, the actress is still responding to questions about her famous sisters, despite her own career success. In the clip from 2012, the actor was in the middle of signing autographs while paparazzi stood by, with one asking her, “How come you’re so much nicer than your sisters?” Olsen had a great response, simply replying, “You guys have been bothering them their whole lives.”

Olsen made her film debut in 2011's thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene for which she was nominated for a Critics' Choice Movie Award, followed by a role in the horror film Silent House and Peace, Love & Misunderstanding, also in 2011. Two years later, Olsen was on the shortlist for the 2013 EE Rising Star Award, who was getting ready to star in Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake at the time and graduate from New York University.

However, Olsen gained worldwide recognition for playing the Scarlet Witch, first appearing as an uncredited version of the character at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014. However, Wanda and her twin brother Pietro, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (who coincidentally played Olsen's husband's the year prior in 2014's Godzilla) made her official debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015. She reprised the role in 2016 in Captain America: Civil War, 2018 in Avengers: Infinity War, 2019 in Avengers: Endgame, and 2021 in WandaVision. Her performance in WandaVision garnered her nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award.
