Legendary musician Elton John is teaming up with screenwriter Lee Hall (War Horse, Billy Elliot) for a new biopic entitled Rocketman.

Rocketman is described as a "biographical musical fantasy," which will incorporate elements of Elton John's life with his hit songs. The movie will feature choreographed musical numbers set to Elton John's songs, which will help drive a narrative story about the musician trying to navigate through the rough patches in his life. Rocketman will encompass Elton John's life from the time he was discovered as a child piano prodigy at age 11, through the rebellion against his strict upbringing and teaming up with songwriter Bernie Taupin.

Elton John, Steve Hamilton Shaw, and David Furnish will produce through their Rocket Pictures banner. Here's what had to say about this unique musical biopic.

"Rocketman will be a radically different kind of biopic. It will be as unique as Elton's life, told in a non-linear and hyper-visual manner that will transport people through the many intense experiences, some wonderful, some not, that helped define Elton as an artist, musician and man."

A director isn't attached to Rocketman yet, and it isn't known when production may start.
