One of the stranger true-life tales coming to the big screen this year is the fateful meeting between a standing U.S. president and a rock icon both in the twilight of their lives. Courtesy of Bloom and Autumn Pictures, we have the first image from Elvis & Nixon, which finds Michael Shannon taking on the King of Rock while Kevin Spacey plays a disgraced leader quite unlike the POTUS he portrays on House of Cards.

This first-look image of Spacey as Richard Nixon and Shannon as Elvis Presley, from Liza Johnson's comedy, finds the two famous figureheads meeting in the Oval Office. Currently in production, the never been told story re-creates an intimate encounter between two men at the height of their powers. Cassian Elwes and Holly Wiersma are producing with Autumn Pictures' David Hansen and Johnny Mac financing and executive producing alongside Byron Wetzel, Robert Ogden Barnum and Jerry Schilling.

Elvis & Nixon recounts the almost unbelievable story about Elvis Presley visiting President Richard M. Nixon at the White House in December of 1970. The meeting was initiated by Presley, who wrote Nixon a six-page letter requesting a visit and suggesting that he be made a 'Federal Agent-at-Large' in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs. Presley brought with him family photos and a Colt 45 pistol as a personal gift to the President. We get to see the first moments of this unique friendship, as it will blossom in unexpected ways on the big screen later this year:
