Emma Watson is in talks to join Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming live-action remake of the classic fairy tale Cinderella. Cate Blanchett has already been attached to play the wicked stepmother.

Kenneth Branagh will be directing the project with Simon Kinberg producing. Aline Brosh McKenna penned the first draft of the film with re-writes provided by The Twilight Saga: New Moon's Chris Weitz. There are no story details, and it is not quite clear how Disney plans to change or update this classic fairytale for a new era.

Emma Watson most recently appeared in Stephen Chbosky's drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower and will be seen next in the true life crime thriller The Bling Ring, followed by Darren Aronofsky's biblical epic Noah.

Production is slated to begin this fall in London.
