New footage of Enola Holmes 2 has just been revealed. On Thursday, Netflix released a new teaser highlighting all of their big releases coming to the streaming service in 2022. It includes the first footage of Enola Holmes 2, revealing a fresh look at Millie Bobby Brown as the titular mystery-solver with Henry Cavill co-starring as big brother Sherlock. The footage is brief, but it does showcase a humorous moment between Brown and Cavill as the Holmes siblings bicker. Along with this footage, Netflix has also released a synopsis for the film which sheds some new light on it plot. You can read the synopsis below.
"Now a detective-for-hire like her infamous brother, Enola Holmes takes on her first official case to find a missing girl, as the sparks of a dangerous conspiracy ignite a mystery that requires the help of friends — and Sherlock himself — to unravel."
Enola Holmes 2 reteams Brown and Cavill with director Harry Bradbeer and writer Jack Thorne. Louis Partridge will also return for the sequel, as he was featured on set in a video with Brown announcing the wrap of the film. The cast also brings back Helena Bonham Carter as Enola Holmes and also includes David Thewlis, Susan Wokoma, Adeel Akhtar, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Hannah Dodd, Abbie Hern, Gabriel Tierney, Serrana Su-Ling Blis, and Laurence Ellerker.
"She’s such an extraordinary character that we’re going to dig out some more secrets about her," Bradbeer previously teased of Enola's future, per Decider. "There’s a lot of issues left in this dysfunctional family. Not only in the country, which is dysfunctional, but the family as well. I think it will always be leaning into real historical accuracy, about the history of the constitution and the development of our democracy. And of human rights, not just women’s rights. I think that’s a very ripe scene to plow. Because if you have an adventure film that has something interesting to say morally, I think that really enriches it and makes it more nutritious."
A Graphic Novel Will Link Both Enola Holmes Movies Together
For fans wanting even more, a separate graphic novel will take provide more of the Enola Holmes story. From Legendary Comics, the graphic novel Enola Holmes: Mycroft's Dangerous Game features the likeness of Millie Bobby Brown and presents an original story that bridges the gap between the films. It will be released on Aug. 23, 2022.
“We are so excited to expand Enola’s world and story with an exciting new adventure in our graphic novel from this extremely talented creative team,” said Nikita Kannekanti, Legendary Comics’ Senior Editor, when the project was announced.
Enola Holmes 2 doesn't have an official release date, but it will arrive on Netflix sometime in 2022. Other big projects featured in the teaser include Rian Johnson's Knives Out 2, The Adam Project with Ryan Reynolds, and Slumberland with Jason Momoa, among many others.
