Zendaya says that a "bridge episode" of Euphoria may be released while the cast and crew continue to figure out a safe way to start production on season 2. The critically acclaimed HBO series was renewed for season two last July, shortly after season one debuted. Zendaya also revealed that the creative team was close to starting production when the public health crisis struck. Euphoria is one of many Hollywood projects that has been effected, though it's beginning to look like some productions are starting back up with intense safety regulations.

The final episode of Euphoria season 1 aired on August 14th, which is now over a year ago. Unfortunately, it seems that fans of the series are going to have to wait a lot longer for season 2. With that being said, Zendaya says the creative team is trying to figure out a way to give fans something to watch while they wait for season 2 to start production. She had this to say.

"We're trying to figure out how to eventually be able to create a season 2 that we're all really proud of and get all the best out of it that we want but also still being very safe. So, we might end up doing a little bridge episode. I don't really know how to describe it, but an episode that we can do with a limited amount of people in a safer environment that can, I don't know, give people something."

A "bridge episode" would certainly be welcomed by Euphoria fans, so let's hope that the creative team is able to pull something off that will satisfy safety standards. As the public health crisis started, the crew were assembling for Euphoria season 2. "We were headed into season 2 and we had done table reads and wardrobe fittings and all kinds of things," says Zendaya. She continues, "and then obviously everything happened and we got shut down, literally like two days before we were about to start the first day of shooting."

Euphoria is loosely based on the Israeli miniseries of the same name and it follows a group of high school students through their experiences of sex, drugs, friendships, love, identity and trauma. The first season aired and was deemed controversial by many for including excessive nudity, drugs, and sexuality for a show about teenagers. Regardless, there are fans of the show that champion the controversial aspects of Euphoria because it comes off as realistic.

Euphoria received nominations for the British Academy Television Award for Best International Programme and the TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Drama. It did not win either, though it did win the Guild of Music Supervisors Awards for Best Music Supervision. Zendaya received nominations for the Critics' Choice Award, Primetime Emmy Award, Satellite Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series, and a People's Choice Award, the latter two of which she won.
