Luc Besson and his EuroCorp film company are about to head out of this world for his new film. Variety is reporting that EuroCorp is moving forward with a new sci-fi film entitled Section 8.
Stephen St. Leger and James Mather will direct the film, written by St. Leger, Mather and EuroCorp founder Luc Besson, who will also produce the film. The film takes place in a prison that orbits 50 miles above the earth and is home to 500 of the most dangerous criminals on the planet. The prisoners are put to sleep with new technology until they all suddenly wake up.
The film will be the directorial debuts of both St. Leger, a commercial director, and Mather, a cinematographer, who gained noticed in directing the short film Prey Alone.
The film, budgeted at $30 million, will start principal photography in either the late spring or early summer.
