In just four years, stars Chris Evans and Ana de Armas have become frequent collaborators. The duo has worked together on three films. Unlike Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone who are cast as romantic couples, Evans and de Armas have played many different roles opposite one another. They recently played a romantic couple, but in the other two roles, they are cast in antagonistic roles to one another.

They've been in a romantic comedy, a spy thriller, and a murder mystery. Their latest film, Ghosted, just premiered on Apple TV+. While the two don't have any future film projects lined up, at the rate they are going it is only a matter of time until their paths cross again on film. Here is every Chris Evans and Ana de Armas movie, ranked.

3 Ghosted

Ghosted
Apple TV+

Ghosted is the latest collaboration between Evans and de Armas. The plot focuses on Cole (Evans) who meets and falls for Sadie (Armas). After one passionate date, Cole begins to suspect Sadie ghosted him. He travels to London to surprise her only to discover she is an agent for the CIA, and he has been drawn into a geopolitical conspiracy.

Ghosted sees Evans and de Armas fall into familiar roles they had played before. Before he was famous for Captain America, Evans was famous for playing charming flirts in Fantastic Four and The Losers and the lead in romantic comedies like What's My Number. Ana de Armas has played a secret agent three times, with Ghosted following No Time to Die and The Gray Man. Yet that is to the film's detriment as the two actors, and the rest of the movie itself, feels like it's on autopilot. Everyone is cast in a role they have played before.

Despite having appeared together twice before, the two don't have the level of romantic chemistry needed for Ghosted to work. Interestingly, the film originally was going to reunite Evans with his MCU co-star Scarlett Johansson, who had to drop out of the film for scheduling conflicts. While the script still would have had the same issues, one wonders if casting Johansson might have sold the romance better, as Evans and Armas's past two collaborations were characters in opposition to one another.

2 The Gray Man

The Gray Man was a $200 million action spectacle from Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame filmmakers, the Russo Brothers. Ana de Armas plays an agent named Dani Miranda while Evans plays Lloyd Hansen, the main villain of the film. The film focuses on a CIA agent codenamed Sierra Six (Ryan Gosling), who teams up with Dani Miranda when he is hunted by Lloyd Hansen after discovering top-secret government cover-ups.

The Gray Man was a notable departure for Evans, who is enjoying playing a sociopathic villain. Evans does exceptionally well playing an evil villain with a sadistic twist, showing he is more than just Captain America. Ana de Armas might not be above the title like Chris Evans or Ryan Gosling, but she manages to hold her own and stand out in this massive blockbuster. While Evans' time in the future franchise is over, the door is open for de Armas to return in the sequels.

1 Knives Out

Chris Evans Knives Out
Lionsgate

Knives Out was the first collaboration between Chris Evans and Ana de Armas, and it remains their best. This murder mystery from director Rian Johnson focuses on Marta (de Armas), a young nurse, who is caught up in a murder conspiracy of a wealthy author, with his family vying for his inheritance. Evans plays Hugh Ransom Drysdale, the spoiled and often mean grandson of Marta's boss. While Knives Out is Daniel Craig's Benoit Blanc franchise, Evans and de Armas helped launch the series with their performances.

Ana de Armas had already been in films like Knock Knock, War Dogs, and Blade Runner 2049, but it was Knives Out that truly turned her into one of the most in-demand young actress working. She perfectly plays the character of Marta with a kind heart and is easily sympathetic from her first scene.

Meanwhile, Knives Out was Evans' first major film following his tenure as Captain America and the MCU, and the actor is having fun playing against type. For years he had been cast as the squeaky clean boy scout, and Evans relishes playing a despicable villainous character. Yet Rian Johnson knows after nine years of playing Captain America that audiences will naturally trust Evans and plays with that, at points making the audience think his character might be a good guy.
