In From the Cold is an excellent show to watch if you’re done and over with regular spy thrillers. Showrunner Adam Glass’ super-powered take on the classic spy thriller genre gives this Netflix series an interesting take. Think of Jennifer Garner’s Alias back in 2001 meets the Marvel Universe. In season one, we followed Jenny, a simple and seemingly mild-mannered mother who traveled to Europe on vacation along with her daughter. But after seeing people showing up dead, we quickly realized that there is more to this character than even her own daughter suspected.

In From the Cold has performed exceedingly well amongst critics and fans; however, there is no official news from Netflix just yet about a potential season two. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t plenty of scope for one. Put your detective cap on as we have found all the info we could for a potential season two of In From the Cold.

Plot: What Can We Expect From Season 2?

The season one finale of In From the Cold hit the fans with a mind-blowing twist. As we saw, the episodes revealed that Svetlana Petrova, Jenny’s mother and former boss, was the one who was behind all the killings. Moreover, she, too, was the one who orchestrated the kidnapping of her daughter. The obvious question on all our minds is why she did that. By the looks of it, it seems like Svetlana was a bit peeved when Russia prosecuted her as a traitor following Jenny’s escape, which led to her seeking revenge. But, as we all watched in the finale, the plan didn’t work exactly through because, by the end of the episode, we saw that Jenny had no choice but to kill her mother to bring that plan to an end.

As we saw in the last few minutes of the first season, Jenny appears to be living a happy life once again, possibly alongside Chauncey, her CIA colleague and possible love interest.

In a conversation with Looper, Adam Glass, In From the Cold series creator, spoke more about the possibility of a potential season two, "Well, it's up to you [the fans] to make it happen. Tell all your friends and family to watch it so that we can get there." So, it looks like the possibility of another season may depend upon us, too, since there is already a plan in place for where the series could go next. "We already know where season two and even season three would go," Glass continues. "There’s a big story to tell here, and we hope we get a chance to keep telling that story."

In another interview with Entertainment Weekly, when asked about how many seasons of the show did they originally have mapped out, Glass goes on to say, “I have a three-year plan, but if the show blows up and Netflix said five-year arc, I'd figure it out. From the moment it started, I saw it in three parts. I always figure out the beginning and end then just figure out how to get there. It's almost like a puzzle. That's the great thing about a writers' room and having great writers who are able to go in and connect all the dots I put up on the board.”

Cast: Who We Expect to See?

With the way season one ended, It’s not hard to see In From the Cold working as an anthology series. But we find it hard to imagine another season without Margarita Levieva as the show’s lead. Jenny Franklin, and the spy that she pretends not to be, is extremely important to this show.

Though nothing has been confirmed yet, the way season one ended suggests that we aren’t done seeing Cillian O’Sullivan in the role of Chauncey. But this time, as a love interest. But we wouldn’t be too surprised to find Jenny very well ditching him in the wait between seasons. We are pretty certain that Alyona Khmelnitskaya, who played Svetlana Petrova, Jenny’s mother, who was killed by Jenny herself, will not be returning in the second season. Of course, we could be wrong, especially if they want to include her character for some pesky guilt-ridden flashbacks.

When Can We Expect a Possible Second Season?

Though we may not possess Jenny’s deductive skills, we can assume that if In From the Cold does get renewed for season 2, we can expect the show to drop on the streaming platform not before 2023, possibly in the first quarter. Of course, this is us just estimating the possible date, though this entirely depends on when and how quickly Netflix announces its renewal.
