Screen Daily has posted quite the interesting story today. It seems that producer Don Carmody is in negations with Sam Raimi to bring the stage play Evil Dead: the Musical to the big screen. And it will be presented in 3D.

Based on Sam Raimi's original The Evil Dead, the play was conceived by George Reinblatt, Christopher Bond, Frank Cipolla and Melissa Morris and premiered in Toronto before moving onto Montreal and then going off-Broadway. An original soundtrack for the play was released a little over a year ago.

The play's original director Christopher Bond is teaming up with original choreographer Hinton Battle to co-direct the filmed version of the musical. They are planning to shoot the movie in the springtime around the Toronto area with some of the original cast in tow.
