"There's nothing more human than the will to survive.." Teases the first poster for the sci-fi thriller Ex Machina, featuring Alicia Vikander as a cyborg named Ava, which arrives ahead of the first trailer's debut tomorrow.

The plot centers on Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson), a 24 year old coder at the world's largest internet company who wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to Nathan (Oscar Isaac), the reclusive CEO of the company. But when Caleb arrives at the remote location he finds that he will have to participate in a strange and fascinating experiment in which he must interact with the world's first true artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl (Alicia Vikander).

Alex Garland, who wrote the screenplays for 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go and Dredd 3D, makes his directorial debut with Ex Machina, which is scheduled for release in the U.K. on January 23, 2015, although a domestic release has not been scheduled yet.
