Practically since the day Sin City was released in 2005 fans have been waiting patiently for a sequel. Originally comic book writer and co-director Frank Miller had said that the film would be based on his Sin City story, "A Dame To Kill For," and actresses such as Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and Rose McGowan were rumored for the part. Miller also stated that Sin City 3 would be based on "Hell and Back," and Robert Rodriguez was considering Johnny Depp for the lead. The script was completed at the beginning of 2009 and actors Rosario Dawson and Mickey Rourke had said that they wanted to reprise their roles in the film. But with Rodriguez and Miller both on board, the film had been scheduled to begin shooting sometime this year and clearly didn't. However in October, producer Stephen L'Heureux stated that Sin City 2 would actually go into production sometime in the second half of 2010 and that the film would now be based on an original screenplay by Frank Miller.

Since there have been so many rumors regarding the sequel we decided to ask one of the stars of the original film, actress Carla Gugino who played Lucille, if she thought the film would actually happen or if it was just a fan-boy dream? We caught up with the talented actress recently and this is what she had to say. "You know, I know that they really want to but it does seem like everyone's gotten busy in different directions, meaning Frank and Robert so I don't know," said Gugino skeptically. "I don't have any inside scoop on that one but it could happen," she said a bit more optimistically. When we asked if she was still interested in reprising her role in the sequel, she confirmed she was. Since her character died in the first film, Miller's new script would have to be a prequel and when we asked if that was the case the actress had this to say. "Yeah, I haven't died yet. So, yeah."
