The new film Stay the Night will make its world premiere at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival in Austin, Texas, and we have a first look clip to exclusively premiere ahead of the event. From filmmaker Renuka Jeyapalan, the film delves into the blossoming of a relationship that doesn't exactly start under the most ideal circumstances. You can catch your sneak peek at the movie by watching the clip below.

In the clip, Grace (Andrea Bang) and Carter (Joe Scarpellino) discuss where the night might be taking them next, though it's clear neither is exactly having fun. When Grace hails a cab in her attempt to head home for the night, she's unexpectedly joined by Carter, who's clearly looking to avoid some kind of confrontation with men in suits in pursuit. Grace isn't thrilled about Carter pushing his way into the cab, but after he departs, she finds that she's unable to leave him. We'll have to watch the film to answer all of the questions that this footage leaves us with.

The synopsis for Stay the Night reads: "At a time when dating apps and casual hook-ups are the “new romance standard,” reserved and very single Grace (Bang) feels like an outcast. But when she meets Carter Stone (Scarpellino), a professional athlete on the outs, who has his own decision to make, she wonders if maybe Carter is the perfect solution to her problem. After their first attempt at a one-night stand goes awry, they end up spending the evening walking and talking through the streets of Toronto, leading them to a connection neither of them expected."

Renuka Jeyapalan dircted, wrote, and executive produced the movie. Along with Andrea Band and Joe Scarpellino, Stay the Night stars Humberly Gonzalez and Raymond Ablack. Brian Robertson and Glenn Cockburn produced the feature.

Stay the Night Makes Its World Premiere at SXSW

Stay the Night 2

Stay the Night will hold its world premiere at SXSW on Saturday, March 12. Other films holding world premieres at the prestigious film festival include Richard Linklater's animated feature Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood; the Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum vehicle The Lost City; and the Nicolas Cage meta film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. For years, SXSW has served to host premieres of some of the very best movies that have been coming out year after year from a variety of filmmakers, showcasing different films of all kinds. This year marks a return of the in-person festival.

“The last two years have been complicated, and full of uncharted new waters for all of us. While there’s been innovation in building community in isolation and figuring out how to pivot, we’ve intensely missed being able to gather together,” said Janet Pierson, VP, Director of Film, in a press release about SXSW. “For our 29th edition of SXSW Film Festival, we are thrilled to share a bounty of creative work to experience together, in-person, with some virtual possibilities, as well. There are fantastic new projects to enjoy from a variety of voices, with, as always, surprising new discoveries.”
