2023 is set to be a good year for the Western genre. There's the Nicolas Cage movie Butcher's Crossing, the anticipated Martin Scorsese film Killers of the Flower Moon, Dead Man's Hand starring Yellowstone’s Carl Hauser, and news of Kevin Costner's new Western epic, Horizon. You can now add another film to the dusty mix — Two Sinners and a Mule, which will be available in theaters, on demand and digital this Friday, April 21 from Lionsgate.

The synopsis for the film reads as follows:

Kicked out of a small Western town for sinful behavior, free-spirited Alice (Chantelle Albers) and Nora (Hannah James) set out for Virginia City to pursue their dream of opening a restaurant. Out on the prairie, they come across an injured bounty hunter named Elden (Cam Gigandet, Twilight). Hoping to share in the reward, they nurse Elden back to health and help him stalk his prey, Grimes (Cord Newman). But as Nora and Alice both develop feelings for Elden, no one notices that Grimes is now on their tail, and the hunters become the hunted.

Two Sinners and a Mule stars the aforementioned Cam Gigander of Twilight fame alongside Hannah James, Chantelle Albers, David Midthunder, Buck Taylor, Richard Gabai, Mohamed Karim, and Cord Newman, and we have an exclusive clip below.

Women on the Run in Two Sinners and a Mule

The film is an amalgam of some of the most classic elements of Western cinema — bounty hunters, brothels, revenge, shootouts, horse chases, and more. Two Sinners and a Mule differentiates itself by looking at the religious fundamentalism which drives the two women of the film out of town and on the run. In corsets and on their own, they stumble across a bounty hunter who may be more wild than them. In the above clip, he attempts to teach them how to shoot a gun, but not before learning more about them.

Two Sinners and a Mule is directed by Raliegh Wilson, who is continuing the exciting new trend of stunt coordinators becoming film directors. Just how Chad Stahelski turned his talents to direct John Wick, Wilson is bringing his career as a stuntman to this new Western. He has previously worked in that capacity on the films Starship Troopers, War of the Worlds, Stargate, Planet of the Apes, Thor, Machete, Galaxy Quest, The Thin Red Line, and even Titanic.
