One of the most popular television shows of today would certainly be HBO's Euphoria. Created by Sam Levinson, the series debuted on HBO in 2019 and just premiered season 2 earlier this year. The show has already been renewed for a third season based on its continued success, as it is now the second most watched series in HBO history second to only Game of Thrones. Clearly, the fans love Euphoria, and the show is here to stay.

MovieWeb recently spoke with series star Eric Dane about his new film The Ravine in an exclusive interview. We also asked about Euphoria, and Dane could not tell us anything about season 3, which is to be expected, but he was able to comment on the show's impressive success. While everyone involved is happy with the accolades and high viewership, Dane still says it was a pleasant surprise to see Euphoria strike so well with viewers, exceeding the expectations of the cast and crew.

"I don't think anybody can expect that level of success. Obviously, it's really great when you get there. But I think, to answer your question, it exceeded any expectations any of us had."

In addition to extremely high viewership, Euphoria has also garnered numerous awards. In 2020, a then-24-year-old Zendaya set the record as the youngest-ever recipient of a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The second season is currently up for Best Show at the MTV Movie & TV Awards, among other nominations. It was no surprise when HBO renewed the series for a third season in February, though it will be difficult for viewers to wait for the new episodes. Let's just hope the wait is not at long as it was between seasons one and two.
