The directorial debut from Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo (The Kids Are All Right, Shutter Island), Sympathy for Delicious comes to Blu-ray and DVD August 23 from Maya Entertainment. The film was awarded a Special Jury Prize for Directing at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. Written by and starring Christopher Thornton (Welcome to California, Pretty Persuasion), Sympathy for Delicious is an edgy, rock-and-roll spiritual journey that explores the lasting effects of tragedy, the search for meaning, and the ultimate redemptive power of compassion. Based on Thornton's real-life experiences as a paraplegic in the world of faith healing, the film also stars Ruffalo, Academy Award nominees Juliette Lewis (Due Date, Whip It!) and Laura Linney (TV's The Big C, HBO's John Adams, The Savages), along with Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, The The Lord of the Rings trilogy). Sympathy for Delicious, which had a U.S. theatrical release in April, will be available on Blu-ray for $29.98 SRP and DVD for $27.98 SRP.
