Following up the success of his first two films, Thank You For Smoking and the Oscar winning Juno, director Jason Reitman's new movie is an adaptation of Walter Kim's book, Up In The Air opening on December 4th, starring George Clooney as an unapologetic corporate downsizer whose untethered life is consumed by collecting air miles. We recently had the opportunity to fly from New York to Los Angeles on a private American Airlines flight, the airline that is featured in the film, and had an opportunity to watch the film, which is already getting Oscar-buzz and talk to one of the stars of the film. Actress Anna Kendrick, who also stars in the super-popular The Twilight Saga: New Moon, plays Clooney's firing partner in the film and took a few minutes to speak to us after the screening. We also spoke to singer "Sad" Brad Smith, his song "Help Yourself" is featured on the soundtrack and in the film. We spoke about the movie, the soundtrack, working with Clooney and Reitman, what it's like to give someone bad news and the worst news that they've ever given. In Up In The Air, based on the book by Walter Kim, George Clooney plays Ryan Bingham, a man who travels around the country to terminate corporate employees. On occasion he delivers motivational speeches about the virtue of a relationship-free life, he relishes the comfort of being anonymous during his perpetual travels, he does not have a personal life and he numbs himself with sex, booze and drugs. But when his company chooses to ground him and keep him at the corporate headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska it could mean the end of the life-style that he has become accustomed to and started to rely on causing him to feel the fear of everything slipping away, a feeling that he leaves people with on a daily basis. According to director Reitman, "The movie is about the examination of a philosophy, what if you decided to live hub to hub, with nothing, with nobody?" Starring George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick. Jason Bateman, Danny McBride, Melanie Lynskey, Sam Elliott, J.K. Simmons and Zach Galifianakis, directed by Jason Reitman, Up In The Air opens on December 4th.
