Author Nicholas Sparks has had a lot of success having his popular romantic novels adapted into big screen feature films such as A Walk To Remember, Nights In Rodanthe and Message In A Bottle but none of his adapted films have had more success than '2004s The Notebook. Dear John, directed by Lasse Hallstrom (What's Eating Gilbert Grape) and opening in theaters on February 5th, is the author's latest book to be made into a film, which stars G.I. JOE: Rise Of Cobra actor Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried from Jennifer's Body. We recently had the chance to speak with Tatum and Seyfried and the talented young actors spoke about their new film, its multiple subject matter, their characters love affair and working with Hallstrom. Directed by Lasse Hallström and based on the novel by best-selling author Nicholas Sparks, Dear John tells the story of John Tyree (Tatum), a young soldier home on leave, and Savannah Curtis (Seyfried), the idealistic college student he falls in love with during her spring vacation. Over the next seven tumultuous years, the couple is separated by John's increasingly dangerous deployments. While meeting only sporadically, they stay in touch by sending a continuous stream of love letters overseas, correspondence that eventually triggers fateful consequences.
