Most Americans are likely not terribly familiar with the exploits of Queen Victoria, who ascended to the crown at the young age of 18 and who reigned for 63 years, the longest reign on record. Then again, most on the other side of the pond might not necessarily be that familiar with the trials and tribulations of Queen Victoria as portrayed in The Young Victoria, which opens in American theaters on December 18 after a successful run in Great Britain. The film stars Emily Blunt as the title character and shows her amazing rise to the crown at such a young age, and sheds some light on a historical era that is commonly misperceived.
