We recently headed to Vancouver, British Columbia to visit the outdoor set of 20th Century Fox's upcoming sequel Joy Ride 2: End of the Road. The film is a follow-up to the 2001 cult hit Joy Ride, which found a trio of friends being menaced by a burly truck driver named Rusty Nail.

Even though ol' Rusty ate a mean piss biscuit at the end of this original rendezvous, the kinky killer is back with a truck load of tricks up his sleeve. Now, six years after hiding out in greasy truck stops across the country, Mr. Nail is once again terrorizing the hapless road-happy youths who should know better than to mess with a man's CB radio.

"Cause CBs is serious business!"

This second installment of the proposed direct-to-DVD franchise finds a group of teenagers traveling cross-country to get to a concert in Las Vegas. Along the way, they make a pit stop and end up stealing Rusty Nail's prized sports car. This doesn't sit very well with the grizzled old truck driver. Once again, he must teach these kids a lesson. One by one, he teases and degrades them personally, making them perform life-threatening stunts. It all climaxes in a death race, with the kids going up against Rusty's big, beautiful, black eighteen-wheeler.

While visiting the nasty truck driver's home town, we got a chance to sit down with the film's producer Connie Dolphin, and its two co-stars Laura Jordan and Kyle Schmid. We were also treated to an exclusive 1:1 with the killer himself, Mr. Rusty Nail. In what I believe is his first set of interviews, we were allowed to grill the dastardly chap on his motives and his methods. As you can see from the video below, he's not a very talkative guy. And he threatened to kill me at least twice while I was talking to him.

Rusty Nail is a truck driver from Nevada that likes to keep to himself. His biggest pet peeve is CB tomfoolery. He doesn't like people messing with his radio. He's also not very fond of car thieves. His favorite pastime is seeking revenge and playing cruel jokes on his hapless victims. We grilled Rusty on his involvement in the recent death of a couple of teenagers in Las Vegas. Here is what he had to say about the matter:

In Joy Ride 2: End of the Road, Kyle Schmid plays Nic. He is a closet Internet nerd that describes himself as an "Emo badass." Two words that act as an oxymoron. He has met the beautiful Kayla (played by Laura Jordan) on Myspace and the two meet for a romantic rendezvous while on the road to a rock concert in Las Vegas. After stealing a car, they are targeted by the grumpy truck driving serial killer Rusty Nail. Russ takes a particular liking to Nic, forcing him to dress in drag and degrading him until he is a crying wreck of man. While out in Vancouver, we got a chance to sit down with both Kyle and Laura. Here is what they had to say about the film:

We also got a chance to speak with the film's producer Connie Dolphin. She recently produced Fox's Dr. Doolittle direct-to-video film series, which has proven to be very popular on the home market. Connie tells us how she came onto this project, and what it is like to be working under such severe weather conditions. Here is what she had to say about the film:

At this time, Joy Ride 2: End of the Road does not have a proper release date. It will show up on DVD shelves sometime in 2008. We will have another update direct from the set very shortly.
