American Pie star Seann William Scott leaves the comedy behind and instead cuts a chilling figure in this exclusive clip from the upcoming action thriller sequel, The Wrath of Becky. Scott joins a returning Lulu Wilson in the follow-up, with the comic actor taking on the role of the villain, a Neo-Nazi who makes the unfortunate decision to break into the home of the vengeful and violent Becky. Check out our exclusive clip from The Wrath of Becky below.

Set two years after she escaped a violent attack on her family in the first film, The Wrath of Becky finds its titular protagonist attempting to rebuild her life in the care of an older woman – a kindred spirit named Elena. But when a group known as the “Noble Men” break into their home, attack them, and take her beloved dog, Diego, Becky must return to her old ways to protect herself and her loved ones.

The Wrath of Becky will follow-suit from the first outing, casting an actor known for comedy as the ruthless antagonist. Released in 2020, Becky introduces Lulu Wilson as the titular character, who in her initial adventure must do battle with The King of Queens and Grown Ups star Kevin James, who also played a merciless Neo-Nazi.

Written and directed by Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote (The Open House), Lulu Wilson returns to unleash her wrath in the sequel alongside Seann William Scott, Denise Burse, Jill Larson, Michael Sirow, Aaron Dalla Villa, Matt Angel, Courtney Gains, Pac Williams, Alison Cimmet, Derek Gaines, John D. Hickman, and Kate Siegel.

Filmmakers Matt Angel and Suzanne Coote have revealed that, much like the first Becky, they specifically wanted to transform another comedic actor into a villain. Turning to Seann William Scott, the pair revealed how the Role Models actor will approach being the bad guy, as laid out in the production notes for the film.

“We knew from the get go that we were going to follow in the footsteps of the first film and cast an actor primarily known for comedic roles to play the antagonist. Seann William Scott was one of the names we had thrown around, but we knew he was the one for the job after our first conversation with him. He had incredible ideas for how to ground Darryl Jr. in a very authentic way — ideas that would make the character scarier than we ever imagined he could be. When you have an actor that brings that depth and stillness to a character, especially an antagonist in a satirical world, it gives you a lot of room as filmmakers to play with the heightened situations going on around them. With a movie like The Wrath of Becky, that balance is critical if you want to land the comedic tonal elements we hoped to incorporate.”

The directing duo also revealed how The Wrath of Becky will expand on its predecessor, both building on what’s come before and bringing a new audience into the fray.

“All great sequels build upon what made their predecessors successful: they evolve; they take the time to establish the new intricacies of a familiar character; they build upon the original audience’s desires, while simultaneously bringing new fans into the fold. We set out to make The Wrath of Becky that sequel.”

The Wrath of Becky is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 26, 2023, from Quiver Distribution.
