Yesterday, Harry Potter fans all over the world were asked to have their wands ready for today, to properly watch the very first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The fans must have all had their wands ready for some time since the very first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel is finally here. It will serve as the second installment in the Fantastic Beasts series and the tenth overall in J. K. Rowling's Wizarding World, a franchise that famously began with the Harry Potter film series. Fantastic Beasts 2 is directed by David Yates from a screenplay by Rowling.

Production for the latest Harry Potter sequel Fantastic Beasts 2 began in July of 2017 and wrapped in December, putting it in post-production at this time. Reshoots are expected, but it isn't clear if they are scheduled yet. Fantastic Beasts 2 takes place just months after the first movie, in 1927, with Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) having escaped prison and starting to recruit others to raise pure-blood wizards to rule over the non-magical.

The only one who might be able to stop Grindelwald is the wizard who was once his best friend, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law). But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). The new footage released in the Fantastic Beasts 2 trailer is dark, mysterious, and pretty brief, leaving Harry Potter fans desperate for more. The wait is going to be a little bit longer since the sequel doesn't hit theaters until November 16th, which sounds like an eternity for the hardcore followers of the Wizarding World series. Though the Fantastic Beasts 2 fans seem to have a little bit more patience than the Marvel fans.

The teaser trailer for Fantastic Beasts 2 from yesterday featured the very first page from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's first chapter, entitled The Boy Who Lived. The title of the chapter slowly transitions into a cloud of smoke off of the page. That enough, was plenty to get fans excited for the brand-new footage that they received today. The first trailer follows through on the dark and mysterious promise of the teaser trailer. With 8 months left to go, fans have plenty of time to speculate about what J.K. Rowling has in store this time around.

The idea for the Fantastic Beasts series was originally to have 3 movies, but J.K Rowling has said that it will instead consist of 5. She immediately began writing the third installment directly after writing the second and reportedly has ideas for the next 2 movies afterwards. As previously noted, Fantastic Beasts 2 hits theaters on November 16th in North America, and while there's still 8 months to go, it makes plenty of time to dissect the trailer and pretty much every frame from the first movie.
