Does The Fantastic Four leader Mister Fantastic make a brief appearance in the latest trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? There is so much going on in the footage that it’s hard to keep up, but some eagle-eyed Marvel fans believe they have spotted the legendary Marvel superhero in the recently released trailer, sitting as a member of The Illuminati.

Glimpsed as Doctor Strange is handcuffed and being walked into a mysterious, epic looking room, a room seemingly used by The Illuminati to watch over the multiverse, a blurry figure can be seen in the distance sporting a costume that looks a whole hell of a lot like that of Reed Richards AKA Fantastic Four member Mister Fantastic.

Thanks to the technology of our time, we can zoom in very close to this figure, and it’s difficult to deny that they do appear to have a black-and-white number “4” emblazoned across their chest. The idea of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness being littered with exciting cameos has been circulating for a while, and with the superhero team The Illuminati now confirmed, Mister Fantastic having a role in proceedings certainly tracks with what we have seen from the Marvel sequel so far.

First appearing in the pages of Marvel Comics back in 2005 and created by Brian Michael Bendis and Steve McNiven, The Illuminati are a covert think-tank originally consisting of Mister Fantastic, Iron Man, Professor X, Doctor Strange, Black Bolt, and Namor. This secret society is composed of these members as each of them represents a section of the superhero community. While not an established team like The Avengers, The Illuminati comes together when events get out of hand and require some of the superhero world’s greatest minds to tackle it. Based on the footage from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness shown so far, the upcoming sequel will certainly fall into their purview.

It looks like The Master of the Mystic Arts will be brought before The Illuminati, which will seemingly include Patrick Stewart’s return as X-Men member Professor X. Thanks to Doctor Strange’s messing with the madness of the multiverse, it seems that he will be chastised by the secret society, before no doubt asking for their help in putting things right again.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see Spider-Man and Evil Dead filmmaker Sam Raimi sitting in the director’s chair, working from a script written by Jade Halley Bartlett and Michael Waldron. The hugely exciting sequel stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, alongside Benedict Wong as Wong, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 6, 2022, as part of Phase Four of the MCU. You can comb over the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer for yourself, courtesy of Marvel Entertainment.
