A new Marvel rumor claims that Killing Eve star Jodie Comer is being courted to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman in the upcoming reboot of The Fantastic Four. The claim comes courtesy of notable insider John Campea, who says that Comer’s involvement in the MCU will be announced at the imminent D23 event.

"There's been one report going around that I want to throw a little bit of fuel on the fire," Campea says before revealing that Primetime Emmy Award winner Jodie Comer, who is best known for roles in the likes of Killing Eve, Help, Free Guy, and The Last Duel, is being tapped for the role of The Invisible Woman. Campea adds that Comer’s name has been attached to the Marvel role for as long as two months before revealing that he has also "heard other names for Sue Storm.”

Despite this, it sounds like Jodie Comer is the current front-runner and, should this rumor turn out to be accurate, Comer would be the first casting announcement for the Fantastic Four reboot.

Susan Storm aka Invisible Woman made her Marvel Comics debut as a founding member of the Fantastic Four as was created by writer Stan Lee and artist/co-writer Jack Kirby, way, way back in 1961. Sue Storm was the first female superhero created by Marvel during the Silver Age of Comic Books, and gains the ability to turn herself invisible, render other things invisible, and project invisible force fields after being hit with cosmic radiation along with the rest of the Fantastic Four.

The character has previously been played on the big screen by Jessica Alba in both Fantastic Four in 2005 and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007 and by Kate Mara in 2015's Fan4stic. No doubt the extraordinarily talented Jodie Comer would bring something new to the legendary Marvel character, with the actress a welcome addition to the MCU.

While the Fantastic Four are due to make their MCU debut in 2024, Reed Richards aka Mr. Fantastic has already featured, appearing in a cameo role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Played by The Office star John Krasinski, it is unknown whether the actor will return for the superhero family’s standalone outing, with further rumors claiming that You star Penn Badgley is being courted for the role in the main Marvel universe.

Not much has yet been revealed about what Marvel Studios plans to do with the Fantastic Four, but we do know that the introduction of Marvel’s first family to the MCU will not be an origin story. "A lot of people know this origin story,” Kevin Feige said. “A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they've never seen before? We've set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen."

Directed by Matt Shakman, Fantastic Four is scheduled to be released in the United States on November 8, 2024, as the first film of Phase Six of the MCU alongside Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, which are due for release in 2025.
