After being on DVD for quite a few years already, Fargo will be getting the special edition it deserves. I have only one complaint, no Cohen Brothers commentary track, although this may be more of their own decision rather than the studios, based on how few of their films on DVD contain their thoughts running through the length of their films. However, they will be interviewed on screen, and should give some interesting stories and/or comments on what many regard to be their strongest film. Other extras include an audio commentary with director of photography Roger Deakins, an interview with Frances McDormand, a subtitle trivia track, the new documentary "Minnesota Nice," a still gallery, trailers, hidden menus and more surprises. I'm unsure as to what surprises could be on there, but after seeing the Blood Simple commentary track, anything is possible.
The film will be presented with a new 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and English and French 5.1 Dolby surround tracks. Retail price is $24.95.
