Production is once again underway on Fast X following the departure of director Justin Lin, and new images from the set have given a new look at Jason Momoa in action as he performs a stunt on a motorbike as part of his currently unnamed villain role. Momoa was announced as one of the new names joining the Fast Saga party as the franchise heads towards its conclusion, and after being pictured on set with his “partner in crime” Charlize Theron, this is the first time Momoa’s character has been seen in full swing.

Fast 10, or Fast X by its official title, is set to be the penultimate outing for Vin Diesel and his crew. While things seemed to be going pretty well on the movie, last month saw the sudden departure of director Justin Lin, who was thought to be returning for both of the final installments of the series. With conflicting reports citing different reasons for Lin’s departure, somewhere between creative differences and issues between Lin and Vin Diesel, the upshot of it all is that The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier is now heading up the movie and has clearly got things rolling straight away.

Jason Momoa is one of the most in-demand actors of the decade so far, and his involvement in Fast 10, along with Theron, Brie Larson and of course Vin Diesel and other returnees, has seen the budget for the movie skyrocket to over $300 million according to some reports. However, as Momoa is clearly throwing himself into the role, it looks like every last dollar will be worth it.

Jason Momoa is Relishing Playing The Bad Guy for a Change

Jason Momoa

While one of Jason Momoa’s first prominent roles was playing a villain of sorts in Game of Thrones’ Khal Drogo, he has become better known for playing the hero in Aquaman and Justice League and the lead in Apple TV+ series See. As he said himself, it has been a while since he has played the bad guy. He previously said:

"It's fun, I get to play the bad guy, which I haven't gotten to do for a while. Now, I get to be the bad boy. A very flamboyant bad boy. A little panache!"

One thing that can be said about any performance by Momoa is that he has a presence on set. There is no doubt there will be plenty of that brought to this role, and most likely the eleventh and final movie in the series, which he is also expected to be part of. Coming into the franchise has its advantages, as it allows an actor like Momoa to make his stamp on the series without having any kind of long-term commitment to future movies. With the actor also appearing in the sequel Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Slumberland, The Last Manhunt, the TV series Chief of War (which he also is a writer on), and the much-hyped buddy cop movie with Dave Bautista that is still being discussed, there is certainly no shortage of Momoa coming in the near future.
