Has Ruby Rose quietly joined the cast of Fast & Furious 9? Vin Diesel revealed last week in an Instagram video that they're gearing up for production to start next month, which means this latest installment is already speeding down the tracks and many of the key pieces are already in place, even if those pieces haven't been revealed officially to the world yet. However, Ludacris may have just given away a pretty big one on social media.

Chris Bridges, better known by his rapper name Ludacris, has been with the franchise since 2 Fast 2 Furious. He's set to reteam with Dom and the gang in the upcoming entry, which doesn't come as a surprise as he's become an important fixture over the last handful of installments. Taking to his Instagram, he shared a photo of himself, alongside Vin Diesel and, somewhat surprisingly, Ruby Rose, and provided the following caption.

"MasterMinding"

Just prior to that post, Ludacris shared an image reminding his fans of the release date for Fast and Furious 9. That begs the question, if Ruby Rose isn't in the movie, what's she doing there? And we have good reason to believe she could be in it. Not only did she work with Vin Diesel on xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, but she also was in talks for both Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious previously. The actress revealed this in an interview back in 2015.

"My last audition before Orange was for Fast And Furious 7. But they didn't want me because one of the main guys said I looked like Justin Bieber. It's so funny because now I'm in talks with that movie and I haven't mentioned to them that I know [they turned me down because I looked like Justin]."

Since then, her star power has grown considerably, thanks to the success of Orange is the New Black, in addition to her other on-screen work in movies such as John Wick: Chapter 2. Most recently, she appeared as Batwoman on the annual Arrowverse crossover on The CW, and the network is working with her on a Batwoman series. While we can't quite confirm this yet, it seems safe to assume that she's lined up her next big gig.

We've also recently learned that Universal is moving forward with a female-led FF spin-off and bringing Ruby Rose into the fold could mean big things for that project. As for Fast and Furious 9, Justin Lin, who helmed several previous installments, is back in the director's chair after sitting out the last two movies. Jordana Brewster will also be making her return as Mia after taking a small break. Next up is Hobbs & Shaw, the spin-off centered on Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham's characters, which arrives on August 2. Fast and Furious 9 will hit theaters on April 10, 2020.
