Fast and Furious lead Vin Diesel took the stage at CinemaCon to reveal that the final part in the franchise, Fast and Furious 11, will arrive in theaters in 2025. Both next month’s Fast X and its follow-up Fast and Furious 11/Fast 11/Fast XI have been confirmed as the final parts of the long-running, hugely successful Fast and Furious series, meaning that audiences have a little while to wait before the conclusion of the saga.

During the event, Diesel decided to ad lib rather than read from the teleprompter. “I should be reading from the teleprompter. But you guys don’t give a s--t about the teleprompter,” the action star said before thanking his Fast and Furious family, the fans, and declaring his love for movie theaters. Eventually, Diesel did go back to what had been scripted, rolling his eyes as he read the comparisons between the Fast and Furious franchise and the likes of The Avengers and Star Wars.

“Thank you for riding with me for a quarter of a century. I like this room better than the Oscars. And you know I really mean that … because all those people who are sitting in the audience in the Oscars, are only there because of you.”

Diesel went on to note that he was proud the Fast and Furious saga is now the longest franchise in history to star the same actors (a declaration that probably needs to be fact-checked) before again thanking the audiences for making the action series such a major success.

“This is our family. The audience is our family. And as we were building toward this achievement, we were attracting directors who each brought their own magic to the saga...I’m proud to say for two decades, the Fast films have been the most successful film of every one of our director’s careers. Again — that’s only because of you.”

Fast X director Louis Letterier is now confirmed to return to the helm for Fast 11, with Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel writing the script.

Fast X will see the likes of Dominic Toretto and his family face their most personal mission yet. Over the years, and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path. Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything—and everyone—that Dom loves, forever.

In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his crew took out nefarious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and decapitated his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they didn’t know was that Reyes’ son, Dante, played by Jason Momoa, witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years masterminding a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price. New allies will be forged, and old enemies will resurface. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his own 8-year-old son is the ultimate target of Dante’s vengeance.

Directed by Louis Leterrier, Fast X stars returning cast members Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena and Scott Eastwood, with Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Oscar winner Charlize Theron. The rest of the cast includes Oscar winner Brie Larson, Alan Richtson (Reacher), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), and legendary Oscar winner Rita Moreno as Dom and Mia’s Abuelita Toretto.

Fast X is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 19, 2023, by Universal Pictures.
