Even before Furious 7 broke an April box office record by taking in a whopping $143.6 million, Vin Diesel revealed that the action-thriller actually starts a new trilogy, with the not yet officially announced Fast & Furious 8 taking the action to New York City for the first time in franchise history. Today we have a new report from Latino-Review's El Mayimbe, who claims that the franchise is trying to bring back 2 Fast 2 Furious star Eva Mendes as U.S. Customs Agent Monica Fuentes. While the actress has yet to be confirmed to return, the story reportedly "depends" on her coming back. Although it isn't clear how this character fits into the story. Here's what he had to say below.

"FAST & FURIOUS 8 #RUMOR With #fast7 now in the record books, the upcoming NY based #Fast8 story will depend on whether they can bring back Eva Mendes' character: US Customs Agent Monica Fuentes."

After starring in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Eva Mendes also appeared in a mid-credits sequence of 2011's Fast Five. She makes contact with Dwayne Johnson's Luke Hobbs, and tells him that Michelle Rodriguez' Leti is actually alive and well, working for the villainous Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), which helps set up 2013's Fast & Furious 6. For those who haven't seen Furious 7 yet, there will be SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.

Furious 7 essentially sets up that Dom (Vin Diesel) and his crew are now fully entrenched in the world of espionage, after helping Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) retrieve the God's Eye. Kurt Russell is expected to be back, and it's possible that Eva Mendes' Maria Fuentes could now be working for him, since she has plenty of deep cover experience. However, it might be somewhat awkward to bring her back into the fold, since, in 2 Fast 2 Furious, she was the love interest of the late Paul Walker's character Brian O'Connor.
