With Season 6 of HBO's Game of Thrones debuting in just a few weeks, one of the show's stars is transitioning from Westeros to the the high-octane Fast & Furious franchise. The Wrap reports that Kristofer Hivju, who plays Tormund Giantsbane in Game of Thrones, has joined the cast of Fast & Furious 8. The Norwegian actor is said to play one of the villain's main henchmen, although at this time, we don't know exactly who that villain will be.

Back in February, a report surfaced that the sequel wants Charlize Theron to star as the primary antagonist, which was being created by director F. Gary Gray and writer Chris Morgan. No details were given regarding the character, since the script wasn't ready yet, but hopefully we'll learn more about the villain, since prodcution is scheduled to begin later this month. We reported last week that second unit work will take place in Cleveland in mid-April, but none of the primary cast members will be present for the shoot.

Vin Diesel (Dominic Torreto), Dwayne Johnson (Hobbs), Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw), Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce), Ludacris (Tej), Michelle Rodriguez (Leti) and Kurt Russell (Mr. Nobody) are expected to return for Fast & Furious 8. The bulk of the production will take place in New York City and Atlanta, but shoots are also being planned in international locales such as Iceland, Cuba and Russia. It isn't known exactly when principal photography will begin with all of the main stars.

F. Gary Gray, who directed last year's box office sensation Straight Outta Compton, is taking the helm on Fast & Furious 8, working from a script by Chris Morgan. The writer is responsible for penning every movie in the series, except for the first two, 2001's The Fast and the Furious and 2003's 2 Fast 2 Furious. Universal has already set an April 14, 2017 release date for Fast & Furious 8.

Norwegian actor Kristofer Hivju is best known for his role as Tormund Giantsbane in Game of Thrones, which he has played since the Season 3 premiere in 2013. He has also had roles in the 2011 remake of The Thing, After Earth, Force Majeure, Operation Arctic and The Last King. What do you think about Kristofer Hivju joining the cast of Fast & Furious 8?
