Start your engines, everyone because the first trailer teaser for The Fate of the Furious is here! Universal unveiled the footage today along with the official title of the movie, which was previously being called Fast 8, though that was an unofficial title. The video is very brief, but very action-packed and gives us our first real taste of what's to come in the eighth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise.

Universal uploaded the trailer tease to the official Fast & Furious YouTube channel in anticipation of the full trailer for the movie, which is set to drop on Sunday. In the video, we get a good look at Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who is back as Hobbs, as well as quick cuts of the rest of the Fast & Furious gang. It is very 'fast', but we also get out first look at Charlize Theron, who is playing the villain in The Fate of the Furious. Here is the official synopsis for the movie.

"Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game-and the rest of the crew has been exonerated-the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can't seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before. From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world's stage...and to bring home the man who made them a family."

It seems like only a movie from the Fast & Furious franchise could deliver so much action in so little time. In the span of about 10-seconds, we see more action quick cuts and set pieces than most movies can pack into an entire trailer. Or even an entire movie, for that matter. That only makes us wonder just how crazy the full trailer for The Fate of the Furious will be when it lands on Sunday. As for the name, clearly, they went with the word "fate" because it sounds like "F8," which they are using as the official hashtag for the movie. Clever. This may be the only franchise in Hollywood that can get away with having a title that bad and will still likely have a good shot a grossing $1 billion worldwide.

It still might be crazy to think for many of us that a franchise which essentially started out as a remake of Point Break, but with fast cars, has turned into an eight-movie, multi-billion dollar monster. But it has, and heading into The Fate of the Furious, the series is at its highest point ever. Furious 7 is currently the sixth highest-grossing movie of all-time ($1.51 billion) and one of the fastest to ever hit $1 billion worldwide. It is no wonder Universal is planning to keep the series going at least through Furious 10, or whatever they decided to call it.

The cast for The Fate of the Furious includes returning stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell. In addition to winner Charlize Theron, the movie will introduce series newcomers Scott Eastwood and Oscar Oscar winner Helen Mirren. The movie is directed by F. Gary Gray, who most recently directed Straight Outta Compton. Be sure to check out the trailer tease for yourself below and be on the lookout for the full Fate of the Furious trailer on Sunday.
