Even though it isn't nearly as popular as The Walking Dead, AMC is still moving ahead with Fear the Walking Dead, which will return this summer for a new 16-episode season. The companion series will help fill the void until The Walking Dead crawls back this fall. Now a brand new, 30-second trailer has arrived online for Fear the Walking Dead season 3, which teases a very violent and tense run of all-new episodes while answering quite a few burning fan questions.

This 30-second trailer for Fear the Walking Dead season 3 made its way onto YouTube and, despite being quite brief, it packs a huge punch in a short period of time. AMC clearly doesn't want to give too much away until the show is back, but this should be more than enough to get the attention of fans and may even be enough to win some folks over who aren't yet on board with The Walking Dead spin-off. This season of Fear the Walking Dead will be taking place on the Mexican border, which will give us a look at the world overrun by walkers from an angle we haven't really observed before in either show. International lines are going to be crossed and borders simply don't mean what they used to now that the world has gone to hell.

The video starts with Nick (Frank Dillane) coming to the end of a tunnel, only to find himself face-to-face with a truly huge hoard of zombies. We then see Madison (Kim Dickens), Travis (Cliff Curtis) and Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) marching with a group of angry looking soldiers, seemingly against their will, along a massive field of dead bodies. The military seems to be doing their best to keep some order in all of the chaos. The clip then moves to a bunch of quick-cutting action shots. These shots don't have any context, but things are looking pretty grim. At one point, someone jumps off of a dam, which makes it look like things are going to get really bleak. There is also some human-on-human violence, which teases a darker turn for some of the characters this season.

There are quite a few Easter eggs and reveals in this new spot for Fear the Walking Dead as well. For one, there is a brief shot that makes it look like Travis is infected, which is a very big deal. We also see during a fight sequence that Nick and Madison will be reunited, which has been a burning question. We also get to see Luciana (Danny Garcia) in the video, which answers the question of whether or not she survived that gunshot at the end of season 2. We don't know how long she will live, but she is there. There was also the question of whether or not Victor Strand would be returning in Fear the Walking Dead season 3. We need no longer wonder, because he shows up in this trailer as well.

The Walking Dead remains the biggest show on cable, despite the fact that it's has been suffering some very serious ratings drops recently. Even with that, the show remains a monster hit and Fear the Walking Dead, though not nearly as popular, helps to bring back some of those viewers during the months that The Walking Dead is off the air. It is unclear if this declining interest in The Walking Dead will also affect Fear the Walking Dead, but that will be something to watch. While The Walking Dead is in no danger of being canceled, Fear the Walking Dead's numbers aren't quite as strong and, if the numbers decline, AMC may have to make a tough decision in the future.

AMC has already renewed Fear the Walking Dead Season 4, so, unless something really crazy happens, we will be seeing at least two more seasons of the spin-off series. Fear the Walking Dead season 3 is set to premiere on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 9 p.m. ET. Be sure to check out the brand new trailer for yourself below.
