AMCAMC has released a new trailer for the highly-anticipated series Fear the Walking Dead, a spinoff of The Walking Dead, which debuts Sunday, August 23 at 9 PM ET. The latest trailer doesn't feature any new footage from the series, but gives viewers a glimpse of Los Angeles after the sun goes down, and how a bustling metropolis turns into a city under siege once the zombie invasion takes place. Much like The Walking Dead before it, fans won't learn how the dead start to rise in Fear the Walking Dead, but the series does take us back to the start of this uprising.

A companion series to The Walking Dead, the #1 show on U.S. television among adults 18-49, Fear the Walking Dead takes us back to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, a time when the world was changing rapidly for reasons unknown, before anyone understood exactly what was happening, when life as everyone knew it was upended and altered in ways no one could have ever imagined. Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and English teacher Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) have managed to assemble.

The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories. Fear the Walking Dead is executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert and showrunner Dave Erickson and produced by AMC Studios. It was recently confirmed that Fear the Walking Dead Season 2 will contain 15 episodes, debuting sometime in 2016.

The series, set in Los Angeles, stars Kim Dickens as Madison, Cliff Curtis as Travis, Frank Dillane as Nick, Alycia Debnam Carey as Alicia, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Liza, Rubén Blades as Daniel, Mercedes Masöhn as Ofelia and Lorenzo James Henrie as Chris. The six-episode first season will kick of on Sunday, August 23, with the 90-minute series premiere, with the Season 1 finale set to air on Sunday, October 4. A special episode of Talking Dead, hosted by Chris Hardwick, will air directly after the finale at 10 PM ET.

It has been confirmed a number of times so far that characters from The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead will not cross over, which makes sense since each show is set thousands of miles away from one another, on opposite sides of the country. Fear the Walking Dead is set just before the zombie invasion spreads throughout the world, but series creator Robert Kirkman has said in the past that the spinoff will eventually "catch up" to the flagship series.
