There have now been reports in 5 states of an incurable virus spreading fast. And it is bringing the dead back to life! Kim Dickens' Madison, a guidance counselor at a local Los Angeles High School, refuses to believe this news in the latest trailer for AMC's companion series Fear the Walking Dead. She won't be a denier for long, though, as corpses begin to rise, giving chase and hungry for brains.

Set in Los Angeles, Fear the Walking Dead follows Kim Dickens as Madison, who is having an affair with another high school teacher named Travis, played by Cliff Curtis. The pair suddenly find themselves in the midst of a zombie epidemic that spreads fast. Also along for the ride are Madison's two children, her teenage son Nick, played by Frank Dillane, and her daughter Alicia, played by Alycia Debnam Carey. While Nick has gotten himself wrapped up in drugs and is failing school, Alicia is on a straight and narrow path, aiming to get into a good college. They couldn't be more different, but their lives are put on hold as they become the first survivors of the apocalypse.

Also starring in the show are Mercedes Masöhn as Ofelia, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Liza, and iconic actor Rubén Blades. Southland star Shawn Hatosy has also joined the spinoff, with his former co-star Michael Cudlitz now part of the original The Walking Dead. This trailer not only arrives with news of a zombie virus spreading to 5 states, it also announced that the anxiously awaited series will make its big debut in August. Take a look at this thrilling sneak peek.
