In lead up to the first trailer for the upcoming horror sequel, Insidious: The Red Door, being unleashed upon us tomorrow, the first poster for the movie has now landed. And it commands you to face your demons. Featuring the titular red door and of course, a terrifying demon emerging from it, Insidious: The Red Door is due to land in theaters in July. You can check out the first poster for Insidious: The Red Door below.

“The family’s darkest secrets will be unlocked,” teases the poster’s caption. Which can only mean that there is still more to be revealed regarding the mysterious Lambert family and their connection with the world below known as The Further. Set ten years after the end of previous first two films, Insidious (2010) and Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), Insidious: The Red Door finds Josh Lambert heading east to drop his son Dalton off at an idyllic, ivy-covered university. However, Dalton’s college dream soon becomes a nightmare when the repressed demons of his past suddenly return to haunt them both.

The fifth outing in the hugely successful horror series, Insidious: The Red Door finds star Patrick Wilson sitting in the director’s chair for the first time. Directed by Patrick Wilson in his directorial debut, with a screenplay by Scott Teems from a story by series creator Leigh Whannell, Insidious: The Red Door reunites Wilson as Josh Lambert, Rose Byrne as Renai Lambert, Ty Simpkins as Dalton Lambert, and Andrew Astor as Foster Lambert.

The rest of the cast includes Peter Dager, Jarquez McClendon, Sinclair Daniel, and Hiam Abbass, each of whom will appear in the Insidious sequel in as yet undisclosed roles.

Insidious: The Red Door Will Delve into the Mysteries of The Further

Insidious 2

Based on the title, Insidious: The Red Door is likely to explore the mysteries of The Further more than ever before. A vast, dark, empty dimension, and described as an important location between Heaven, Earth and Hell, The Further is ruled over by an equally mysterious red-faced demon known only as The Man with the Fire in His Face. Now four movies in, The Further largely remains a curiosity, with audiences no doubt excited to see what Insidious: The Red Door has in store in terms of answers to the many questions we all still have.

The Insidious franchise first began back in 2010 courtesy of director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell. Introducing the Lambert family and the astral plane that haunts them, Insidious was a major success at the box office, grossing a worldwide total of over $100 million against its meager budget of $1.5 million. This success was continued with the 2013 sequel, Insidious: Chapter 2, as well the 2015 prequel Insidious: Chapter 3 and the fourth installment Insidious: The Last Key in 2018. No doubt the studio will be hoping that these numbers continue with Insidious: The Red Door.

Insidious: The Red Door is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 7, 2023, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
