Empire magazine keeps bringing the goods for its 25th Anniversary issue. This morning, they are debuting a first look at Exodus from Prometheus director Ridley Scott. Christian Bale stars in this biblical thriller as Moses, the prophet and exodus leader, seen here in his formative days as the adoptive prince of Egypt.

Christian Bale as Moses in Exodus

In this historical drama, baby Moses is found in the bulrushes after his desperate mom abandons her only son, fearing orders from a powerful Pharaoh to murder all male newborns amongst the slaves. Moses is found by the Pharaoh's daughter and raised alongside royalty. A burning bush speaks to Moses in his later years, convincing the future prophet to serve the voice of God and lead the Israelite slaves to freedom. In doing this, he parts the Red Sea and partakes in a 40-year trek through the desert wastelands.

The film is loosely based on the 1956 drama The Ten Commandments starring Charlton Heston, a movie responsible for bringing the term 'biblical epic' to the cinematic lexicon. Ridley Scott promises to recreate the same scope for modern audiences, and its been reported that he has used thousands of extras on the film's Spanish sets as opposed to going the digital route.
