USA Today has released the first photo of The Road, a drama directed by John Hillcoat for Dimension Films and MGM, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Cormac McCarthy.

Starring Viggo Mortensen, Robert Duvall, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Kodi Smit-McPhee, The Road opens in theaters on November 14.

The story centers on a father who transports his son to safety following a nuclear explosion and battles starving stragglers and marauding packs of cannibals in his way through a devastated, post-apocalyptic landscape.
