We have already caught a glimpse at Jay Garrick (Teddy Sears) in a poster for Season 2 of The Flash, but we haven't seen any footage featuring this Earth-2 Flash, until now. TV Box Promos has released a new trailer which shows Jay Garrick's arrival in Central City, where he warns Barry Allen that the singularity (a.k.a. Speed Force) he created in the Season 1 finale, was actually a portal to Earth-2. This portal was used by the villainous Atom Smasher (Adam Copeland, a.k.a former WWE Superstar Edge) to enter their world.
While we have already seen Atom Smasher in action, courtesy of footage released last month, this new trailer gives us our first look at the character out of his super-villain suit. Jay Garrick was the first version of The Flash in the DC Comics, debuting in 1940's The Flash #1. Barry Allen didn't appear in the comics until 1956, but it was revealed in the iconic 1960 comic Flash of Two Worlds (which is also the name of this season's second episode), that both characters actually inhabit separate universes, Earth-1 and Earth-2. This comic introduced the concept of the "multiverse," which will be explored throughout The Flash Season 2.
Unfortunately, this trailer does not give us a look at this season's main villain, Zoom, who will be voiced by Tony Todd. Jay Garrick, Zoom and Atom Smasher represent just a few of the new characters who fans will be introduced to this season. Other new arrivals include Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West, Michael Ironside playing Lewis Snart, Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot, Violett Beane as Jesse Quick and Demore Barnes as Henry Hewitt. The show will also feature two characters from the midseason series DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Falk Hentschel's Hawkman and Casper Crump's Vandall Savage.
As we previously reported, Atom Smasher will make his debut in the Season 2 premiere epiode titled The Man Who Saved Central City, airing Tuesday, October 6 at 8 PM ET on The CW. It isn't known when Jay Garrick will make his debut, but it will most likely be in the second episode, Flash of Two Worlds, where fans will also be introduced to Zoom. The show's executive producers also confirmed at Comic-Con that Gorilla Grodd will be back, along with the villainous Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and his sister, the Golden Glider (Peyton List).
Despite being sent away into Earth-2 in the season finale, Tom Cavanagh will be back as Harrison Wells/Reverse Flash, but the producers have already confirmed that he won't be interacting with Barry Allen. With less than one month left until The Flash returns to the small screen, what other characters from the DC Comics do you hope will be announced for this upcoming season?
