Barry Allen may be hanging out in the Speed Force right now, but he isn't going to stay there forever. At the end of The Flash season 3 many thought that Wally West was going to inherit the mantle of the main speedster in town for the upcoming season, but that isn't going to be the case. Not only is Grant Gustin going to be back as Barry Allen in The Flash season 4, but he is going to have a fancy new suit to rock while taking out some new bad guys. Sorry, Wally.

The new suit for The Flash season 4 was revealed courtesy of a set photo from the YVRShoots Twitter account. While the new suit that Barry Allen will sport in the new season looks similar, there are some notable differences. There are some subtle leather accents on the suit but the main difference is the gold lightning bolt accents on the arms. We also know, thanks to a photo that Grant Gustin posted to his Instagram also teasing the new suit, that these same lightning bolt accents are going to appear on his boots. So the costume will be a little more, flashy, if you will.

Barry getting a new suit is not insignificant, but it also isn't uncommon. The team has had good reasons to upgrade his speedster suit between seasons of The Flash. Given that there is going to be some new villains to contend with, and given that The Flash season 4 will take place six months after the events of the end of season 3, there will probably be some very good reasons for this new suit. Possibly some more practical reasons beyond just looking good.

The Flash season 4 has plenty in store for Barry Allen to deal with. Neil Sandilands will play the main villain in the upcoming season, the Thinker. This was previously teased by villain Abra Kadabra in season 3 but was recently confirmed. The Thinker (aka Clifford DeVoe) is a genius level inventor that has mind control and telekinesis powers that come from his "Thinking Cap." Some other new additions include Danny Trejo (Machete) as Breacher, who is the father of Gypsy (Jessica Camacho). Kim Engelbrecht will also be coming on board as the Mechanic, who plays the right hand to the Thinker. So, as promised, The Flash season 4 isn't going to rely on speedster villains, which could be a nice change of pace.

We still have a lot of questions that weren't answered in the first trailer for The Flash season 4, but we're going to have to wait until the new season premieres on October 10. Why does Barry come back? How does he get back? For now while we ponder those questions, be sure to check out the photos of Barry Allen's new costume in The Flash season 4.
