In the DC comics, Barry Allen has often gone on time travel adventures, and the sci-fi trope has always been a constant part of The Flash mythology. Many fans have wondered when The CW series will go down this road. Well, they don't have to wonder any longer, as executive producer Andrew Kreisberg confirms that it will happen in the second half of this first season, which is set to return this week with Revenge of the Rogues, debuting on January 20.

The first elements of time travel will be introduced in Episode 15, set to premiere on February 24. It will mark Spartacus star Liam McIntyre's first turn as the Weather Wizard. He will be on a quest to avenge his brother's death, which was depicted in the pilot episode City of Heroes. Speaking with TVLine, Andrew Kreisberg revealed:

"There's an unexpected, accidental time travel coming up. And it is played both for hilarity and darkness. It happens in an episode we're really excited [about] - the first Weather Wizard episode with Liam McIntyre."

This will likely set up time travel as a future device to be used quite extensively on the series. And it's been teased that Barry Allen will take trips both into the future and back to the past. Some are speculating that it's a little too early for time travel to be introduced into the show, and that it should have been saved for the second season, which was announced last weekend. What do you think?
