Depending on how you feel about classic 90s movies being rebooted for a new generation, this may come as very great or very disappointing news. The Flatliners remake is officially moving forward. And it's found one of its two leading men. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Diego Luna is in talks to star opposite the previously announced Ellen Page.

Niels Arden Oplev, best known for the original Norwegian version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and his stateside debut Dead Man Down, is directing from a script by Ben Ripley. Laurence Mark and Michael Douglas are producing this remake. Sony has declined to comment about the casting. Diego Luna's reps did not respond.

The original Flatliners followed a group of medical students and close friends who conduct experiments with near death experiences. Their unorthodox extracurricular studies have very dark consequences. And the team soon find their own lives in danger. The original cast was an ensemble of 80s actors at the height of their career, and included Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon and Oliver Platt. This new cast is being described as 'more inclusive' and international.

Joel Schumacher directed the original, which focused on these four men and one woman as the delved into the depths of the unknown to find if the afterlife truly exists. This new venture into that same territory will have a core cast that consists of three women and two men. No other plot details have been provided, and it isn't known how far from the original plot the remake will deviate.

Diego Luna recently wrapped shooting on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He plays a Rebel Soldier on a secret mission to steal plans for the first Death Star. No character details have been released at this time. The actor will soon hit the press trail for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's immense 2016 promotional campaign. Diego Luna is also starring opposite Mel Gibson in Blood Father later this year, and he has a major role in The Bad Batch starring alongside Keanu Reeves and Jim Carrey. Flatliners begins shooting in early July.
