Warner Bros. is bringing back Fletch, picking up feature rights to the nine-book Gregory McDonald series revolving around the investigative reporter I.M. Fletcher character, made memorable by Chevy Chase.

According to Variety, no writer or director has been attached to the new project.

Warner Bros. and the producers are aiming for a reimagining, not a remake, and hope to make a smart action comedy that plays out on a bigger canvas than the previous movies.

No production date has been set.
