Focus Features bought the world rights to the film Hamlet 2, breaking an all time record sale with a purchase of $10 million. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the deal closed around 8 a.m. after a night of stiff negotiations.

Steve Coogan stars in Hamlet 2 as a dramatic drama teacher who tries to revive the fading high-school theater department by staging a controversial sequel to the Shakespeare play 'Hamlet'. Along side Coogan, Catherine Kenner, David Arquette, Amy Poehler and Elizabeth Shue all have co-starring roles in the film.

A release date for Hamlet 2 has yet to be announced.
