Fox Searchlight and Lorenzo di Bonaventura have teamed up for the thriller Kidnap, based on a script written by Jackass veteran Knate Gwaltney. John Moore is attached to direct and also will exec produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the missing-child tale captures some of the same vibe as Taken; it centers on a woman whose son is kidnapped at a local mall and embarks on a chase to save him.

Those familiar with the script say it also bears similarities to Breakdown, Paramount's 1997 thriller about a man who must locate his wife when she goes missing after their car breaks down in the desert.

Since Taken became a $200 million global hit this year, development execs have been looking to either buy or jump-start ideas with similar themes. Among the hot development projects this spring has been Prisoners, Aaron Guzikowski's kidnapped-child saga to which Mark Wahlberg is attached.

No production date has been set.
