As you probably know by now, the hit ABC sitcom Full House, which has only continued to grow in popular over the past three decades since it first hit the air in 1987, is coming back. Netflix is already deep into production on new episodes of a reunion series called Fuller House. And it will revolve around Candace Cameron Bure's DJ Tanner. The actress recently spoke to TVLine about how her character has changed. Hopefully for the better.

DJ Tanner is no longer a cute teenager hopping for that perfect date. Now, she is a widowed mother of three children. It's a constant balancing act, as Candace Cameron Bure describes it. The young woman decided to follow in her father's footsteps. She recruits her sister and best friend to move all their children under one roof. About the changes in DJ Tanner, Candace Cameron Bure had this to say.

"She's in mom mode, full-time. She's not a teenager anymore, but she's still really fun. She also has to keep three boys under control without a husband, so she's got to be a disciplinarian. If you were that teenage girl who wished that DJ was your sister, or wished that she was your best friend, you'll be really happy with how she is as a mom."

Some fans have worried that Fuller House will carry a more serious tone. Or will be a completely different show. That simply isn't the case, insists Candace Cameron Bure. When fans finally get to see the new episodes, which will begin streaming on Netflix in 2016, they will be pleasantly surprised to find a sitcom that looks and feels very authentic. It is a true continuation of what has come before it, with a few modern changes.

"Tonally, the show is very much the same, but it's updated. I'm sure a few of the jokes are a little bit racier now than they would have been in the '90s, but it's still nothing that's inappropriate or that you would feel uncomfortable watching with your kids. We're three grown women, and I have to say, we're all pretty good-looking, too. [Laughs] We have some cute guys on the show, too, so that's fun."

DJ Tanner's on-screen ex-boyfriend Steve will be making a return on the show. But Candace Cameron Bure isn't yet ready to reveal the surprises that relationship has in store. Steve has remained in DJ's life, despite the fact that he's not the father of her three children. While Candace is staying mum on Steve, she will talk all day about the return of DJ's BFF Kimmy Gibbler. Andrea Barber is reprising the role. And as Bure tells it, she pretty much steals the new reunion show.

"You're going to howl over Kimmy! Andrea Barber is so funny, it's ridiculous. She's even funnier as Kimmy as an adult than she was as a kid. Kimmy and DJ are still best friends, and because Andrea and I have been really close friends our whole lives, you really see the chemistry on screen."

Netflix hasn't set a debut date for Fuller House just yet. But if you need a Full House fix before 2016, the show still airs in syndication and is widely available on DVD and VOD. And you might also want to take a look at the good natured and well-meaning Lifetime movie The Unauthorized Full House Story, which will give you some good backstory on how excited you should really be for this upcoming reunion series.
