Fuller House is moving to cable television for the first time ever. First developed for streaming as a Netflix Original, the series will begin airing all 75 episodes on GAC Family starting on Feb. 28, as reported by People. This marks the first time the Full House spinoff has been available on cable TV and it will be joining classic episodes of Full House, telling the complete story of the Tanner and Fuller families. Fuller House ended its run on Netflix in 2020 after five seasons.
The series serves as a continuation of Full House but set years into the future. It picks up with D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron Bure) widowed with three children to raise, much in the way her father Danny Tanner (Bob Saget) had been in the original series. She decides to move into the old family home in San Francisco to raise her children with the help of sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).
Several members of the original cast were featured in Full House, such as John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Scott Weinger, Lori Loughlin, and others. The cast also introduced new actors to play the child characters with Fuller House also starring Michael Campion, Elias Harger, Soni Nicole Bringas, and Dashiell and Fox Messitt. Juan Pablo Di Pace also starred as Ramona's father Fernando. All that was missing was Michelle Tanner as the Olsen Twins declined to participate in the series, having since retired from acting.
News of Fuller House heading to cable comes over a month after franchise star Bob Saget passed away. The comedian died in January at the age of 65 due to head trauma. Though his stand-up material was far unlike the Full House humor he'd exhibit as Danny Tanner, Saget was always very proud of his involvement in the show and remained close with all of his co-stars up until his death.
We May Not Have Seen the Last of the Tanners
It's possible that another TV series will be made one day to continue the Tanner saga. Last year, following the conclusion of Fuller House, Jodie Sweetin addressed the possibility during an interview for The Morning Show in Australia. She suggested that in another 10 or 20 years, the cast could get back together for Fullest House, this time following the ladies of the family in their mature years. In other words, it would be like Full House meets The Golden Girls.
"I don't know, I guess never say never," Sweetin said of a third series. "If you would have asked me twenty years ago if I would be coming back someday to play Stephanie Tanner as an adult I would have been like, I don't think that is going to happen. Who knows, in another 10, 15, 20 years we do Fullest House and I get to finally portray my Bea Arthur wannabe as one of The Golden Girls."
Whether that ends up happening remains to be seen. For now, fans can catch Fuller House on GAC Family starting on Feb. 28.
