Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the most beloved Manga ever. And now, for the first time, the world that Hiromu Arakawa crafted is being brought to life on the big screen like never before. Fans can finally see what it looks like in live-action, as the first trailer for the Fullmetal Alchemist movie has landed online. It may be brief, but it is definitely stylish.

The trailer just made its way onto YouTube, which should delight fans who have been eager to see footage from the movie. This first Fullmetal Alchemist trailer is just over thirty seconds long, but packs a big punch. We get to see some gorgeous scenery shots, Edward and Alphonse (who is in his classic armored body), and if you stick around until the very end, you will even get to see Edward face off with with a very cool looking beast. Oh, and there is definitely some alchemy going on, so the trailer delivers on the promise of the name in that way.

Even though this is the first time anyone has attempted to bring the world of Fullmetal Alchemist into a live-action setting, the other iterations have been tremendously popular. The Manga has sold more than 60 million volumes worldwide and when the first volume was released in English it became the top-selling graphic novel of the year in 2005. The Fullmetal Alchemist anime series has won several awards, including being voted the most popular anime of all time in Japan, according to two different TV Asahi polls. So this movie will have very high expectations from the very large fanbase.

Fullmetal Alchemist follows two brothers, Edward and Alphonse, who live in a fictional universe where alchemy is one of the most advanced scientific techniques and is a very coveted skill. The two are on a quest for the philosopher's stone (not the one from the U.K. version of Harry Potter) in order to restore their bodies. Their bodies were horribly damaged following a failed attempt to bring their mother back to life, after she died from the plague, using forbidden alchemy.

Fullmetal Alchemist concluded filming earlier this year in Italy with the movie set to debut in Japan next winter. There is no word on a U.S. release of any kind for the movie, but it will surely make some sort of domestic run. Fullmetal Alchemist was directed by Fumihiko Sori with Ryosuke Yamada starring as Edward. Be sure to check out the first trailer for the movie for yourself below.
