/g-i-joe-2-gets-director-jon-m-chu/One Week after Justin Bieber: Never Say Never director Jon M. Chu announced that he was taking over directorial duties on G.I. Joe 2, Paramount Pictures has set a firm release date for the sequel: August 10th, 2012.

Though confirmed to direct, Jon M. Chu is still in negotiations. As it has been widely reported, there will be major cast changes when G.I. Joe 2 starts shooting later in the year. Rachel Nichols, who played Shana "Scarlett" O'Hara in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, /g-i-joe-2-only-bringing-back-duke-snake-eyes-and-storm-shadow/announced yesterday that she will not be returning, and that the only characters being brought out of retirement are Duke, Snake Eyes, and Storm Shadow.

Paramount Pictures has also officially locked November 23rd, 2011, as its firm release date for Hugo Cabret. That means Martin Scorsese's big budget, 3D family movie is going to be in direct competition with The Muppets. That will certainly be an interesting fight to watch go down.
